A Beautiful Day

Dave is an old friend that had a lot of influence on who my husband has come to be as a man.  He has always held a special place in our heart. We were delighted when he contacted us to photograph his wedding.  It was great to catch up with him and meet his beautiful bride Ashley.  It was an absolutely gorgeous wedding day. The Uptown Theater was such a fun place to experience for a wedding location.  The highlight of Uptown might be getting to see your name on the marque in lights for the whole world to see.   Our hope is the love that was evident on your wedding day only continues to multiple with the years to come.  Thanks for letting us capture your day!

A Family to Be Proud Of

I finally made it back up to Iowa to photograph one of my favorite families. They happen to be my brother’s family but they are still one of my favorites!  I had not had the chance to do a family session with them in over two years.  My nieces and nephews have changed SO much in that time.  They also added to their family in December bringing home two more beautiful kids from Africa.  I am very proud of the family Chad and Heidi have.  They could have chosen to live the “American Dream” but they felt a higher calling for their family.  They knew they wanted to impact 3 little lives from Africa that would have had a very different life there.  Even though I know they feel like they are being pulled apart in a thousand directions, they know their family is their ministry and they are honoring God in raising these magnificent seven children.  Yet again my big brother is teaching me so much.  I am blessed to be apart of it.

A Blessed Sweet Baby Girl

If you have followed my work you may have seen this family a few times, and are aware I am pretty crazy about them.  They are one of the most astonishing families I have had the privilege of knowing.  There is never  a time I walk away from this family and don’t feel blessed deep in my spirit.  This time I photographed the birth of their eleventh child (yes you read that correctly), little Miss Isabella came into the family in an unfamiliar way to her mommy and daddy.  They are use to tons of paper work,  home inspections and lots and lots of waiting.  Their other ten children came into their family by adoption, which in their own right caused much labor pains.  Isabella came by birth, she decided to come quickly and without much warning throwing her very planned out mommy for a loop.  She was welcomed with excitement and a lot of love by her other siblings.   She continues to give her parents a whole new experience (I have a feeling that might be her moto).  She will soon realize how awe-inspiring her family really is and how blessed this sweet baby girl is to be born into it.

Near and Dear to My Heart

I have looked forward to photographing Anna’s engagement session for many, many years.  She has patiently waited, earnestly prayed and quietly sought the person God had intended for her.  As Anna’s best friend I did much of the same, you see Anna is one of the dearest people in my life for a thousand different reasons and not just any man would do.  She is seriously one of the best people God has designed and the person that got to spend the rest of their life with her had to be something pretty amazing.  Through a wonderful love story Eric came to be that man.  I think what I like best about him is that he realizes the prize he has won when he ask for Anna’s hand and is thankful to God for the gift of her.  What more could a best friend ask for?

Sweetness

Layla is pure sweetness.  It’s hard to believe she is already a year old.  She has grown and changed so much in her first year ( Newborn, 6 months) one thing has remained constant, her sweet disposition.   This little girl will flash you a pure smile and cuddle up to you in a heartbeat.  She is a delight to those who are apart of her world.  Her one year session was full of moments of her demonstrating that adorable smile. Of course a 1st Birthday celebration would not be complete without some cake, and Layla loves cake!

Simply Delicious

I was promised that Miss Lily Kate was “simply delicious” as her mommy puts it.  Her mommy was correct, she  is just precious with those chubby checks and sweet disposition.  She was very content to be loved on and I was more then happy to have such a tiny one to love.  Every once and awhile I remembered I was there to photograph her as well and not just hold and admire her.  We were able to get some amazing photographs of this sweet girl.

Preparing

I love the excitement and anticipation that a little one brings, especially when it’s the first bay to join a family.  This little boy is no exception.  His mommy and daddy are busy preparing the nursery (which sounds like it will be awesome), picking out outfits, buying all the essentials all in preparing to hold this sweet boy for the first time.  It’s a pleasure to get to document his journey starting with growing in his mama.

Dream League

I had the opportunity to photograph a few basketball games through Dream League ( is Kansas City’s new NCAA Certified Pro-Am basketball league.   The league is comprised of current and former college and professional athletes looking to prove themselves against the “best of the best”. )  This League is sponsered through Livin the Dream.  http://www.livin-the-dream.com/#/home

“Livin’ The Dream is an organization geared towards the positive influence of all people through the game of basketball. At Livin’ The Dream we believe “Everything is possible for him who believes.”(Mark 9:23) and we help others realize the potential that lies within each of them to live out their dreams in today’s society. We encourage those people to dream and believe in order to achieve their lifelong goals.  Livin’ The Dream inspires people of all ages with the love of Christ by using basketball as a teaching platform. We currently provide basketball camps, clinics, private skill development, youth basketball teams and national and international exhibition competitions against college and professional teams.”

I enjoyed getting to try to use different skills with photography.  It was also fun to see such talented players play in one location.  I look forward to photographing the Championship game on August 7th, 2011.

Summer Fashion

I had the opportunity once again to work with Laura Duncan of Wee Fashion.  She has an adorable Summer Line she is putting on her Etsy page.  She allowed me to work with some gorgeous little ones as well.  I highly recommend getting your cutie an outfit ordered to wear this summer, you won’t be disappointed!

A Busy but Blessed Life

I photographed Jenny’s wedding almost 4 years ago.  It’s amazing how quickly ones life is filled with marriage and children.  Jenny moved to Arkansas but I have kept in touch with her via her mom.  It was great that we could work out a session when she was back in town for a visit.  She has two sweet little ones that are close in age, they keep her very busy but just as richly blessed!
