As we all know 2020 has left us in a brave new world. Having a baby in 2020 has flipped the script of what it looks like to have a newborn. When your best friend has a baby in 2020 you try to come up with creative solutions to simple get to see that new precious boy. Anna and I both wanted to find a way to make it work. She wanted me to take his photos just as I did for her other two and I desperately wanted to meet him, and see his family I adore. So we did just that, make it work. We meet half way, I wore a mask, I washed my hands no short of 20 times and refrain from holding him despite all my auntie instincts. It was worth every minute! We captured some precious images of Owen and my heart got a bit of fill from the family I love.

The plans for him
As I held this precious blond hair, blue eye gift of a boy I kept thinking what will he become? Will he be this amazing mix of sassy, sweet and smart like his big sister? Will he be loyal, thoughtful and giving person like his mommy? Will he dream big dreams that turn into entrepreneurship like his daddy? I pray he loves and protects his sister fiercely. I pray he loves his mommy tenderly. I pray he seeks to love and honor God like his daddy. Mostly I pray he becomes the man God has already ordained him to be and discovers all the gifts God wrapped in just him. I know God has big plans for this baby boy can’t wait to see how they unfold.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
Beauty
I see beauty here. I see it beyond the obvious beauty of this sweet precious gift of a baby. I see beauty in the care and attention her nursery has. I see it in how her mommy has embraced her new role in a way she looks like she has done it for years. I see it in the way her parents are working as a team to meet her needs. I see it in the contagious smile of her parents every time they lay eyes on her. I see it in the new found love and respect her daddy now has for her mommy. I see it in the creation of a family. It’s all over the place and it was my privilege to capture it.
Milestones
I love getting to photograph this family’s milestones. I captured the sweet moments of their wedding as they vowed their life together. A short 3 years ago I documented their precious baby girl’s newborness. This time around they welcomed baby number 2, a little boy, Augustus. He is marvelous. He was chilled and sweet. His sister was eager to tell me about her Baby Gus. As a photographer it’s such a joy and a privilege to capture moments of life especially when they seem to flash before my eyes. This family is very dear to me and I am glad I can capture milestones for them.

The Wait
I have waited for this little precious girl to be born for 13 years. I can clearly remember her mommy, then single, telling me how she felt the greatest calling on her life was to be a mommy. If the 13 years wasn’t a long enough wait, this baby girl decided to also be 10 days late. Each day for the last month of the pregnancy I was on pins and needles anxious for “the call” She even had us all waiting during delivery taking her own time. I then had to wait a whole 10 days before I got my hands on her. She though, without a doubt was worth the wait and a gift from God. I know there were many moments in the last 13 years that her mommy wonder if that calling would ever come to reality. I can clearly remembering praying for and with my best friend that God would guide and direct her, even with this huge longing. I know for Anna holding her daughter is a fulfillment of her heart’s cry. Oh precious Ryn, you were are a fulfillment of a dream God whispered to your mommy since she was a little girl. To hold you, love you and photograph you was nothing short of joy.
A Lot to Accomplish in One Day (Part 2 – Newborn Session)
Meet Miss Adalyn. Isn’t she just beautiful? Everything about this baby girl is adorable! She was such a little model for our session. We got to try this bow and that on her, and this prop and that. It was great! I, of course, loved when she woke up so I could cuddle and love her back to sleep. There is something special about this little girl. I saw it in her when I first laid eyes on her. God has amazing plans for her life and I am so glad I get to watch to see what He has in store. Until then just enjoy this precious one.
A Lot to Accomplish in One Day (Part 1)
This family probably looks familiar to you. I get the very distinct pleasure of being their photographer (even though their mommy is becoming a very good photographer herself). What do you do when you need to photograph 3 year old session, a 5 year old session, family session and a newborn session. Why just make a day of it. I love spending time with this family so it sounded like an awesome plan to me! Since we did SO much in one day I decided to break up the sneak peek into two parts. So you are getting the sweet older girls and family today. Look for some really adorable newborn photographs of their very sweet sister tomorrow. Enjoy!
“The Princess Has Arrived & She is Perfect”
Cailyn’s mama has worked very hard to get to hold this precious baby in her arms. She was on bed rest since 25 weeks. There were countless people praying for the healthy, safe arrival of this adorable girl. As soon as she was born the announcement went out, “the princess has arrived and she is perfect!” The joy on her parents face is evident. I am once again blessed to be able to capture a beautiful newborn in all her sweetness!
Safe and Sound
Some babies I get really anxious to get my hands on and love on. Caden was one of those babies. I have been excited for his arrival just about from the day I heard he was growing in his mama’s tummy. I was anticipating the chance to see Haley, his big sister interact with him. I was looking forward to seeing his mama hold him in her arms and seeing the peace on her face knowing he truly was here safe and sound. He was worth the anticipation and excitement. He is simply precious and a sweet gift, one that I got the honor of capturing.
Smitten
Raleigh is smitten with her new baby sister Reaghan. She was full of ideas she would love to do with her sister. Even though Reaghan has a few years to grow before she can also enjoy all her big sister has planned, I know eventually she will be following her around as younger siblings often do. Reaghan was alert for most of our session, and even flashed her sweet dimple filled smile. These girls were a delight to photograph, it’s easy to see why their mommy is smitten with both of them. They are darling!
