Becoming Home

The Moseley’s moved here about a year ago when John took over as head basketball coach at Lincoln University.  I have enjoyed getting to know them better over the last year.  I have watched as they have made the transition to small town living and embraced the busy life of a head basketball coach’s family.   I know the transition has not always been the easiest.  However, I  appreciate how Crystal loves and supports John.  I love that the LU Tigers biggest fan is little Miss J.   This is a family obviously has much love for each other.  I am glad that Jefferson City is becoming home and we have become friends. Bittersweet

It’s for bittersweet reasons I had the opportunity to photograph this family.  This family is moving.  For this I am sad.  I am sad because my youngest walks around the house yelling Lulu, my son is full of excitement after an adventure with Finley,  and my oldest recalls the giggles shared between her,  Emerson, and Harper.  I am sad because we exchange babysitting.  I am sad because Lydsay gets me.  I am sad because this family has become every so dear to my family.  So all of that is the bitter in the bittersweet.  The sweet is watching them having a calling on their life and not being afraid to act on it.  The sweet is knowing another family doing the hard work of ministry, walking that same journey even if it has to be so far away.  The sweet is knowing lifelong friendships have been formed and for this I am so grateful.  The sweet is also having the chance to capture their family before we part ways.  I love them dearly and so glad to call them friends.

The sweetest little thing.

Ms. Z is the sweetest little thing.  I completely enjoyed capturing her. She has so much life and expression wrapped into that petite frame.  I especially love the smiles she pulled out for her mommy and daddy.  She loves them so and it was evident.  I am pretty confident they are captivated by her as well.  I fully appreciated her daddy willing to sing her favorite songs to get Ms. Z being herself.  What a special family to be able to photograph.

Milestones

I love getting to photograph this family’s milestones. I captured the sweet moments of their wedding as they vowed their life together.  A short 3 years ago I documented their precious baby girl’s newborness.  This time around they welcomed baby number 2, a little boy, Augustus.  He is marvelous.   He was chilled and sweet.  His sister was eager to tell me about her Baby Gus.  As a photographer it’s such a joy and a privilege to capture moments of life especially when they seem to flash before my eyes.  This family is very dear to me and I am glad I can capture milestones for them.

A Genuine, Fun Family

What you see, is what you get with the Jett family.  And typically what you get is fun.  They are up for just about anything, just about anytime.  I love how they embrace life and try to live it to the fullest.  It was fun to explore an area of Missouri I had never been.  Our session was a bit of an adventure as we dared to do majority of it on a country dirt road often yelling “car” to make sure everyone got out of the way.  After the car would pass we would continue with the session.  It was a fun adventure, and my privilege this very genuine, very fun family.

Surprise

I was able to pull of the biggest surprise of my life a few weeks back.  I surprised my husband Jon with coordinating his best friend and his family to fly in for Jon’s ordination.  It was awesome to see disbelief and joy on his face. He has not seen his best friend (or his family) for 4 years.  In that 4 years we have added 4 children among the two families.  It was exciting to finally have everyone together.  Since both of these little girls have been born, I have been dying to photograph their beautiful blue eyes and precious smiles.  I was glad when they agree to let me. It was a fun morning of getting to know each of them that much better.  The whole weekend was so enjoyable and makes our hearts miss them even more in their absence.  I am praying it won’t be another 4 years until I get to capture them again and hug their necks. We love them dearly!

Love this Family

This family has a very special place in my heart.  These girls are my kids best buddies, still not certain by choice or force but best buddies they are.  Their mommy is one of my dearest friends. I love getting to capture them in my camera.  This year was no different.  I love getting those moments to interact with them drawing out bits of what makes them, them.  I love being reminded how well God did on creating the beauty of each one.  How special He made this family He designed.  What a blessing and privilege it is to not only capture them but have them as part of my famil

Long time

Jen and I meet when we were both single.  Fast forward 12 – 15 years and we are both married and have 5 children between us. It had been a long while since we have a chance to see each other and catch up.  I enjoy that even though we do not see each other often when we do we just pick up where we left off. I am also happy that she used a photograph session as an excuse to see me. Jen has a great family and we had the chance to do some extended family photographs. I am so glad it all worked out for when everyone was back and they have some family photos to cherish.

Expressions of Love

You can easily see it.  The expression of love this family gives.  You might catch a glimpse of it when the two girls are interacting.  You can hear it when their daddy tells them countless times in different ways how beautiful his girls are.  You can see it in the  joy and interaction that is a natural rhythm to this family.  This family has a way of making expressing love seem effortless and it was my honor to capture them.

Laughter

I have gotten to know Jenni because she is the fearless leader of the MOPS group I am apart of.  (Which by the way is an amazing national program for Mother’s Of Preschoolers that I highly recommend! http://www.mops.org/)  Jenni approached me taking some fall photos of her kiddos which I was more than happy to do but quickly told her we would be making it a family session.  I firmly believe in family sessions and the importance of documenting you as a family.  I am so glad I talked her into it.  As you can see from the photographs this family loves to laugh.  I love being around and photographing a laughing family.  I think laughing brings a family closer, and shows an obvious bond.  I came across this quote and liked and felt it fit this family.

Families fill our lives with happiness and laughter leaving us memories to treasure today and forever after
