A typical couple in their late 20’s is going after the American Dream. You know the white picket fence, the nice house, the 2. 5 kids and dog, this is not true of Travis and Kristy. They are after a different kind of dream. The have a heart to adopt. They sacrifice daily in order to not only provide for their three children but for the ones they hope to adopt one day. They are some of the most amazing people I have ever meet. They are humble in spirit and talk about their dream and life as simply as something they feel called to do. I was so happy to be able to photograph this wonderful family.

My Own
I am often asked about my own sweet little girl. I have to admit her photographs are often the last on the list to get completed. I gave myself the goal of having her one year session complete before she turns 14 months old. I made it by a few days. This past year has gone by so fast, and she has grown so much. I hope you enjoy viewing photos of my baby girl as much as I enjoyed taking them.
Sweet Baby Girl
I love new babies; the smell, the little noises, and all the tiny parts. This sweet baby girl was no exception. I think I would have been content to hang out all day just cuddling her and photographing each part that made her so special. As you can see she is a keeper.
An old friend’s little sweetie
Jenny is an old friend that I had not seen for years. She got a hold of me because she was in town for a few days and really wanted me to photograph her and her precious little girl Maija. I am so glad we were able to work out a session. Maija is a sweet little girl that did an amazing job during her session. She of course was full of energy as I would expect any 2 year old to be, however she followed directions wonderfully and we were able to create some fantastic images. We even got to catch of few of Jenny and her together. Of course the session would not be complete without Jenny having a mini session of her own.
The Vaughn Family
To know the Vaughn’s is to know a family full of love and passion. They are the type of family that literally would give you the shirt of their back. They are the type of people that are the first to offer any help they are able. The addition of Evalana has only added to their well of love and depths it can go. I am not sure if Evalana knows just how loved she truly is. I count it a privilege to have people like that in my life.
Exploring Everything
Evalana is exploring everything. She was interested in the water, the trees, my stools, her play car, you name it she wanted to explore it. She didn’t seem to mind me photographing away at the same time. Every once and awhile she would look up at me give me a look like, “wonder what she is doing” then go back to her determined task at hand. As you can see Evalana has remarkable blue eyes. I loved getting to capture not only the beauty of them but the life she captures in them.
Sweet little boy
Justus is a sweet nature little man. He found his “spot” on each person that held him and snuggled right in. I do think though his favorite part was getting to lay on the blanket in the basket. He sighed and just relaxed and let me photograph away. He was content to lay there and be admired.
Miss Ava
Miss Ava has just turned 3. She did amazing during her session. She would flash me a smile in a second. She listen to direction so well. I think my favorite part of the session was when I would ask her to portray an emotion and she was able to without hesitation. I have not concluded if she is just brilliant or dramatic. I think maybe just a little bit of both. Either way the photographs turn out great!
Anticipation
Little Mr. Justus will arrive sometime this week. Danna is hoping that it will be soon and on his own. I am so glad he waited though for us to get some great tummy photographs. As with any new baby there is a lot of anticipation of how he will arrive, when, what he will look like etc. I do know this will be one adorable little boy, and no matter how or when he enters this world he is blessed already with a family that is crazy about him.
Adoption
Adoption is something I believe very strongly in. I think it’s an amazing thing. It’s a wonder how a child who needs a family finds a loving family to take them in. An adoption is taking place in our family. My brother and sister in law are anxiously awaiting the news about their little one or little ones in Rwanda. I had the opportunity to raise money toward their adoption a few weeks ago. I did 8 sessions in 2 days. All the session fees went toward their adoption which will likely pay for the plane trip home. I wanted to thank each of the families that participated. We had amazing weather and a each session went so well. Check back in the next two weeks for sneak peaks from the awesome sessions we had.
